BOLO: How the Russia/Ukraine War May Affect Your Cybersecurity!

My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with the Ukrainian people!

The Russo-Ukrainian War may have several impacts on the non-participating countries, including the U.S. It may impact smaller businesses, including solo- practitioners, and small-, medium-, and large- size law firms. Our internet security is a potential target. While Russia may not want to attack the U.S. Government’s cybersecurity, earlier targets, e.g., lawyers, law firms, and respective businesses, could be an easier and less aggressive victim. This is a good time to check your cyber health!

  • Update your software (providers usually update their software with patches when vulnerabilities are found.

  • Use an anti-virus program (yes, this includes Apple Computers and is an absolute must for Windows’ users).

  • Use a VPN when on public wifi!

  • Don’t open suspicious e-mails or software downloads.

  • And remember to Backup, Backup, Buckup!!!

We always need to be careful when it comes to internet security.
