Tip of the Day! Don't Rush to Update to A New Major Operating Software (OS) Version Release!

With Apple’s anticipated (and alleged) release of its new iOS 15 at 1 PM EST today, Apple’s anticipated release of OS 12 " Monterey " (this Fall), and the October 5th Windows 11 release, I want to remind everyone you may want to wait for a little before downloading the OSs.  In this posting, I am not talking about minor updates to fix a bug.  I'm talking about whole new operating systems!  There are many concerns when new versions of software operating systems are released.

The easiest concern to recognize is that the respective servers will be flooded with users trying to get the latest update.  (Remember the flood of people waiting at CompUSA for the midnight release of a new Mac OS version on CD - I guess that makes me a little old! 🙄). This can create serious demands on bandwidth making your downloads slow if not constantly disconnected.  Second, and perhaps more importantly, it does not hurt to let others test drive the new release.  Keep an eye on the web (or perhaps this blog) for any issues a new version of an OS may be causing users.  Then you won’t have downloaded a buggy release (Apple usually has a good track record with these releases; Windows not so much) and have your work stymied because your computer is out-of-whack.  At a very minimum, you may not want to update all of your computers and devices with a new OS.  This will at least give you some devices not downed by a buggy release.

Happy Lawyering!
